When Phil was in the UK with me at the 2013 Telford Off-Road Bike Show we had both of my restored Honda’s on our stand. These bikes had Plastic Renovations restored tanks fitted and looked great. Our stand was pretty much overwhelmed with interest and we did not stop for three days.
Phil and I talked about having a bike that had all the plastics restored, not just the tank. This would showcase a bike that has original used plastics that have had a previous hard life. All the plastics will be restored to NOS look: front fender (mudguard), front number board, fuel tank, both side panels, air box, air box mud flap, magneto ignition cover, rear fender (mudguard). All of these parts are well used, cracked, scratched, gouged, damaged and heavily sun oxidised.
This build will show what can be achieved on all plastic parts on this bike.
The bike was found as several boxes of bits in California with original plastics. As you can see, most of the machine is there.
All of the chassis parts have been sent to me in the UK for my part of this build and Phil will perform magic on the plastics. Phil has also removed dents from the muffler, straightened the foot pegs, dressed the weld repair on the sub frame, and restored a broken alloy lug on the clutch casing.
Our aim is to give anyone visiting our site some interesting content of a bike being restored from a box of tatty bits and old used plastics. The plan is to have this bike fully built in time for the Telford 2014 show. We will be updating this page as we progress, so keep coming back and have a look at how we are getting on. Hopefully all will be ready for the Telford Show. Come and see us if you are planning to go there.
Cheers, Rad
